With large areas, high ceilings and heavy vehicle traffic, factories and warehouses require careful planning of camera placement. Here are seven key points:
1. Prioritise entrances and exits
Staff, visitor and vehicle entrances should be covered at angles that capture faces and licence plates.
2. Plan perimeter security
Camera spacing along the building and fence line should leave no blind spots.
3. Do not forget loading areas
Docks and yards are critical for recording goods receipt and dispatch.
4. Choose the right lens for aisles
Corridor mode and a suitable focal length make long, narrow aisles easier to monitor.
5. Consider lighting and night conditions
Areas used at night need sufficient IR range or strong low-light performance.
6. Balance mounting height
Mounting very high shows a wide area but reduces detail; choose the height according to the purpose.
7. Plan network and recording together
Fibre backbones for long distances, sufficient PoE power and disk capacity for the required retention should be planned from the start.
We can evaluate these criteria during an on-site survey and prepare a tailored layout plan for you.
